This model offers several advantages, particularly in terms of sustainability. It reduces reliance on imports, which in turn, enhances farming productivity and efficiency. With our new investments, we aim to revolutionize our operations. Leading the Herd:
Baladna’s Pursuit of Sustainability
Climate change and food security are growing concerns for countries around the world, and the global dairy production community is actively working to adopt more sustainable practices. In Qatar and the MENA region, Baladna is setting the gold standard for sustainable and fully integrated dairy farming, investing over $25 million in three new flagship sustainability initiatives.
The multi-million-dollar investment program will transform the company’s operations and is part of our long-term commitment to decarbonizing Baladna’s processes by improving energy efficiency and reducing water usage.
Baladna is also leading integrated farming efforts in Qatar, having built a unique operating model that is now being sought after by other countries. To support food security measures and production in other countries, Baladna has been partnering with major companies and governments around the world, including those in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Algeria.
Reducing Water Consumption by Over 50%
Baladna partnered with global water treatment specialist Veolia Water Technologies to convert over 22,000 liters of agricultural wastewater per day for irrigation and dairy herd cooling, reducing freshwater consumption by over 50%.

Innovating Cooling Systems and Improving Energy Usage
One of the biggest challenges for domestic dairy farms in the Middle East is controlling the extreme heat and humidity conditions. This is typically done using energy-intensive cooling fans.
Baladna is supporting the Gulf Organization for Research & Development (GORD) in developing a patented, sustainable, fresh air-handling dehumidification and cooling technology. Funded by Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF), the novel technology will reduce energy and water use for livestock barns.
As part of Baladna’s expansion in the Southeast Asian market, the innovative technology is set to revolutionize the cost and energy efficiency dynamic of dairy barns worldwide.

- Baladna’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy closely supports QNV 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by diversifying the economy, building capabilities, and optimizing the use of natural resources in the region, as part of an international exportable model for sustainability.
