Ingredients
Cake
- 2 and 1/2 cups (313g) all-purpose flour (spooned and leveled)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
- 1 cup (240ml) vegetable oil
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1 cup (180g) unsweetened applesauce
- 4 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) orange juice
- 3 cups (360g) peeled and chopped
apples (1/2-inch chunks, about 2-3
large apples)
2 Optional: Brown Sugar Glaze
- 1/4 cup (1/2 stick or 57g) unsalted butter
- 1 cup (200g) packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup Baladna Whipping Cream
- small pinch of salt
- 1/2 cup (60g) confectioner's sugar,
sifted
How it's made!
1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose
flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, ground nutmeg, ground
ginger, and allspice.
2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, granulated
sugar, and brown sugar until well combined.
3. Add the applesauce, eggs, pure vanilla extract, and orange juice to
the large mixing bowl and whisk until the mixture is smooth and
fully incorporated.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the large mixing bowl in two parts,
whisking until just combined after each addition.

7. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick
inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
8. Once done, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for a few
minutes before drizzling with brown sugar glaze.
the Brown Sugar Glaze:
1. In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat.
2. Add the packed light or dark brown sugar, Baladna Whipping
Cream, and salt to the saucepan and whisk until the mixture is
smooth.
3. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, then reduce the
heat to low and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until the mixture
thickens slightly.
4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in the sifted
confectioner's sugar until the glaze is smooth and no lumps remain.
5. Drizzle the brown sugar glaze over the cooled apple spice cake, then
slice and serve.
6. Enjoy your delicious and moist apple spice cake with brown sugar
glaze as a dessert or snack!
